Company Car Policy

The attraction of a company car, even despite the ever-increasing tax liability that attaches to the benefit, is obvious. Less obvious but always present is the considerable emotive force that surrounds the allocation, and particularly, use and replacement of these company assets. Strict guidelines as to allocation and use are essential, with particular reference to use by other parties, financial implications of improper use and withdrawal of use.

This policy attempts to cover all situations that may arise and to set out procedures to be followed. It commences with the statement that ALL drivers are bound by its contents - which includes any members of an employee's family - hence the need to issue the policy to such drivers. Specific models of cars have been included for example only.

The procedure requires the licences of all drivers to be inspected prior to the allocation of a vehicle and then periodically afterwards. This should protect the employer if the employee continues to drive having lost his/her licence but not having declared this fact to the employer.
